Earning a black belt is one of the most difficult challenges in martial arts. During the journey you will be tested to your limits. Each and every day you are pushed to the edge only to discover that you are capable of more. Very few human beings are comfortable living on the this precipice. Although I believe anyone is capable of earning a black belt, very few are willing to make this sacrifice.

Last week, one more person made the journey. Chicago MMA would like to congratulate Holland, Michigan's newest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, Kevin Irwin. Kevin is only the fourth black belt that we have graduated in our history.

Kevin's martial arts journey began nearly two decades ago. Kevin’s teaching style acquired the reputation of being engaging as well as highly technical. His students are very fortunate to have such a technical and caring instructor.

We are proud to have Kevin and Guardian Jiu-Jitsu as part of Chicago MMA and the Ralph Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and Sityodtong Muay Thai team.

Welcome to the club, Kevin!
